Frequently Asked Questions

1. I’m a new author. Will you read my work/tell me how to sell my work/give me all of your sales secrets?

Congratulations on writing something. I mean that. I don’t think there are enough writers in the world, so it’s great you’ve written something. That said: I only selectively read things pitched to me by other authors. There are legal repercussions I need to be aware of, plus I simply do not have time to read everything people ask me to read.

Nor will I tell you how to sell your work. That’s up to you. If you’re viewing this writing thing as a business, then you need to do proper research on the industry and find out things on your own, rather than me spoon-feeding you all the stuff it took me years to learn.

And finally, I will most definitely not give you all of my tactics for selling. No way. I get a lot of emails asking me this because I happen to be successful at selling my work. But it took me a long time and a lot of man hours to learn what works and what doesn’t. And it’s always changing. I do my homework and you should most definitely do yours. So please do not ask me to share my secrets for success. Make your own success and you’ll be far more appreciative of it. I do blog about what I’m trying in the ebook/indie publishing world, so that would be a recommendation as well.
